Spirit Week at Cascade Junior High

Dress up days are always a ton of fun, and our students and staff did a great job!

Teaching the Basics

What are the numbers, and what happens when you put them together?

What are the letters, what sounds do they make, and what happens when you put them together? And when you put words together into a story, how do you not just read it, but understand it? Can you compare what's different about two stories?

All the building blocks of math and reading have to be taught, and it's all part of #everydaylearning at Cascade. These pictures are from Cloverdale Elementary, and they represent what happens in all our classrooms every day. You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

IT Professionals Day

Do you know what a firewall does? How to stop phishing? What to do if you can't login?

Tuesday was IT Professionals day, and we celebrated our team who likes to stay behind the scenes (and out of the camera's eye!) They do so much work we don't even notice to make things work, and it's only when something goes wrong that we think about them.

We want to say thanks for all the things we take for granted with our technology, phones, and internet!

Thank you Donald Coon (Director of Technology, pictured), Albert Phillips, Christopher Bladorn, Carol Delamarter, and Austin Thatcher.

More than 1200 Meals a Day!

Our staff serve more than 1200 meals a day on the Cascade Junior High School and High School campus alone!

For students in 6th through 12th grade, these amazing Nutrition Services staff make sure they have breakfast and lunch available everyday.

They have a great fresh food salad bar and many options that they serve out with a smile. You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

Thanks to our staff!

Anti-Bullying at Aumsville Elementary

Our schools are focusing on building community and stopping bullying this week and next. Thursday at Aumsville Elementary, Box Out Bullying brought a very fun live show that helped students see what bullying is and what they can do to stop it.

Thanks for teaching and entertaining our students! #boxoutbullying You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

Cascade High School Student Wins Dairy Farmers of Oregon Award

Cascade High School's FFA Chapter has amazing students doing great things!

The Dairy Farmers of Oregon honored our own Anneka Christiansen with this year's Allan Hanselman Award.

Anneka is President of the Cascade FFA Chapter, and is currently preparing with the Oregon 4-H Dairy Judging Team for World Dairy Expo in September.

At the Oregon State Fair, Anneka exhibited both the Champion Brown Swiss and Champion Holstein in the FFA dairy show—her Holstein was also named Reserve Supreme Champion.

Congratulations Anneka!

Turner Family Recess Night

Family Recess Night at Turner Elementary on Thursday was awesome!

Families met teachers, played outside, feasted on hot dogs, and roasted marshmallows. Then the big event was the annual rubber ducky race! This year, Principal Iverson tried to race the ducks...but they easily defeated her!

ParentSquare for Communication

Cascade School District uses ParentSquare for all our communication. You can control how and when you receive information, via email, text, or the app (Google Play Store or Apple App Store). Here is a link to a 3 minute video showing what ParentSquare can do.

For example, if you feel overwhelmed by the amount of emails, you can set everything to "digest" mode and it will send one message around 6 pm with everything from that day.
This video above is an overview of features in ParentSquare.

If you haven't yet set up your ParentSquare account, go to this link. Use the "Register" section, and enter the email address or phone number you have given to the school. Then you can set up your account.

If you have a problem, contact your student's school office and make sure that they have your correct contact info and have you associated with your student as a parent or guardian in our ParentPortal.

If you want in-depth information on making ParentSquare work for you, here's a 15 minute video that covers a lot of ground!

Have a great weekend, Cascade!
